Activity Description: Describe in as much detail as possible.
What do you want the students to learn?
- Students will learn that there is a direct affect between the amount of lichens and pollution. Pollution is caused by the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.
Set-up
- Clip boards
- Log books
- GPS set up
- Digital camera set up
What steps will the students take?
- Student will find trees on campus and count the amount of lichens on trees near a road and trees away from the road.
- Record their GPS location for each tree.
- Take a digital picture of each tree.
- Graph the coordinates and amount of lichens in each location.
Extra Activities?
- Compare results with a rural school via video conferencing.
