Activity Description: Describe in as much detail as possible.
What do you want the students to learn?
- To investigate common ecosystem interactions around RMS
Set-up
- Prior to the exercise, teacher should map out 5-10 areas on campus where interactions can be seen. These can be organism to organism or organism to environment. Teacher should also do some training on GPS and compass. Maps (Goggle) of campus can be provided as aid.
What steps will the students take?
- Divide students into groups of 4-5.
- Start each group at different points along route, ex., Group 1 at Station 1; Group 2 at Station 2, etc.
- Every 5 minutes the groups shift one station.
- At each station students list and photograph all observed interaction within 20 feet of data point.
- After exercise students consolidate their data and then compare with other groups.
- Compare/contrast findings.
