Activity Description: Describe in as much detail as possible.
What do you want the students to learn?
- The student will know that there is a relationship between force and motion.
- The student will graph their distance, time, and speed by using data collected with GPS.
Set-up
- Outside areas of school.
- Groups of four students will have a GPS unit and a camera.
- Set up the course the students will cover and put up signs to show what speed they should be going.
What steps will the students take?
- Each group will have a GPS and camera. They will follow the course, varying their speed and direction.
- They will record their data on the GPS unit.
- In the classroom they will graph their results showing the different rates of speed and the fact that the slope of the line changes.
- They will map their directions on a separate sheet of paper.
Extra Activities?
