Activity Description: Describe in as much detail as possible.
What do you want the students to learn?
- 7.14B – Analyze effects of regional erosional deposition and weathering.
Set-up
- Find a start point student can use by a creek.
- List selective points if students need help with a point of deposition.
- Make worksheets students can use to help make their maps.
What steps will the students take?
- Look at a drain or a river/creek and pick a starting point. Students will set a waypoint for the start.
- Follow the river until it takes an extra sharp turn. Use this waypoint for the deposition point.
- Have students draw a diagram/take a picture of the buildup of sand and other materials.
Extra Activities?
- Have students draw a mock GPS map with the information found.
- Find other points of interest (waterfall, erosion).
