Activity Description: Describe in as much detail as possible.
What do you want the students to learn?
Set-up
- Acquire overhead picture of school from Google Earth.
- Pick 3-5 points around school (i.e., flag pole, goal post).
- Get GPS systems.
- Clipboards with paper.
What steps will the students take?
- Students mark first point.
- Mark other points in order.
- Use distance and direction from GPS to place points on Google Earth picture using correct scale.
Extra Activities?
- Have students create entire map and not use Google map.
- Have student draw maps on computer software.
