Activity Description: Describe in as much detail as possible.

What do you want the students to learn?

  • Students will experience how topography can influence speed and distance.
  • Students will learn to use GPS and understand basic technology.

Set-up

  • GPS – Mark route for student to travel.

What steps will the students take?

  • Problem: How does terrain influence speed?
  • Hypothesis:  Predict which terrain will generate the greatest speed and distance.
  • Record data:  Time and Distance.
  • Graph information.
  • Read conclusion.

Extra Activities?

  • Figure the power used at each location. How does it differ?
