Activity Description: Describe in as much detail as possible.
What do you want the students to learn?
- The student will use a visual from Google Earth, pictures, books to see where they would find the Texas symbols.
Set-up
- Google Earth – go on visual field trip of Texas.
- Set up different regions of Texas where a child would see these symbols.
- Use landmarks such as Sea World, Garner State Park, Galveston, Lake Houston (familiar places for a Kindergarten child.
What steps will the students take?
- They will view and then create each symbol through an art project and write one sentence where these symbols can be found in the state of Texas.
Extra Activities?
- Bring pictures from home if they have visited these areas of Texas or have taken pictures of these symbols somewhere.
- Graph their favorite symbol. (Print their favorite symbol.)
