Computer – Google Earth; actual pictures of Texas state bird, tree, flower, plant; art projects; books;

Activity Description: Describe in as much detail as possible.

 

 

What do you want the students to learn?

 

  • The student will use a visual from Google Earth, pictures, books to see where they would find the Texas symbols.

 

 

 

Set-up

 

  • Google Earth – go on visual field trip of Texas.
  • Set up different regions of Texas where a child would see these symbols.
  • Use landmarks such as Sea World, Garner State Park, Galveston, Lake Houston (familiar places for a Kindergarten child.

 

 

 

What steps will the students take?

 

  • They will view and then create each symbol through an art project and write one sentence where these symbols can be found in the state of Texas.

 

 

 

Extra Activities?

 

  • Bring pictures from home if they have visited these areas of Texas or have taken pictures of these symbols somewhere.
  • Graph their favorite symbol. (Print their favorite symbol.)
